Projects & Activities

RDHA organization expanded in 2023-2024 to cover six states, enabling it to provide comprehensive support to communities affected by conflicts and disasters. Its efforts focused on humanitarian aid, education, WASH, CP and SGBV, NFIs, MPCA, women’s rights, strengthening partnerships, improving living conditions, and peacebuilding. Highlights of activities and projects in 2024 include: • Service Mapping: Identifying referral pathways and enhancing child protection in Sinnar and Al Jazirah with support from ECHO/SC. • Child Protection Networks: Reactivating community networks for child protection and improving the identification and referral mechanisms for at-risk children in Sinnar and Al Jazirah with support from ECHO/SC. • Awareness Sessions: Raising awareness about gender-based violence, disaster risk reduction, and environmental issues in Sinnar and Al Jazirah with support from ECHO/SC. • Children's Education: Distributing educational kits to the most vulnerable children in White Nile and Red Sea states with support from SC/GPE. • Disaster Training: Training community facilitators to improve disaster forecasting and climate change preparedness in eight communities with support from SC/GFFO. • Disaster Preparedness: Community workshops to identify concerns and develop early action protocols in Blue Nile with support from SC/GFFO. • Digital Platforms: Establishing digital platforms for sharing weather forecasts and disaster warnings in Blue Nile with support from SC/GFFO. • Educational Campaigns: Awareness campaigns and recreational activities for children and teachers in White Nile with support from SC/GPE. • Non-Food and Cash Assistance: Distributing aid to displaced individuals from Khartoum in Al Jazirah and Blue Nile. • Workshops: Community organization workshops for enhancing civilian protection in Blue Nile with support from Geneva Call/FPI. Locally Led Emergency Response (Localization Projects) • Al Jazirah: Distributing food items and constructing health units for displaced individuals. • Red Sea: Distribution of hygiene materials, medical care, establishing central kitchens, psychological support, provision of water and sanitation, maternal support, and food distribution. • Gadaref: Supporting hygiene and nutrition, distributing non-food items, supporting displaced persons (Singa crisis) by providing meals and hygiene supplies, establishing central kitchens, and medical care. Key Challenges Faced by RDHA in the Past Two Years: • Communication Disruptions: Difficulty accessing some conflict-affected areas due to communication network failures. • Supply Route Disruptions: Significant challenges in delivering humanitarian aid to some states due to blocked roads and deteriorating security conditions. • Fragile Security Situation: Deterioration of the security situation in some areas, which affected RDHA’s ability to implement its activities and deliver aid safely and effectively. • Inflation and Price Instability: Rising costs of goods and essentials, making it increasingly difficult to meet humanitarian needs on a large scale. • Increased Displacement Numbers: A large influx of displaced persons into shelters, putting significant pressure on available resources and the organization’s capacity to meet growing needs. In addition to these direct challenges, we also faced others such as: • Funding Difficulties: Limited funds available for humanitarian organizations, affecting their ability to implement projects and expand their assistance. • Access to Affected Communities: Restrictions on access to some affected areas, hindering the organization’s ability to assess needs and provide timely assistance. Despite these challenges, we achieved many successes in the past two years, thanks to the dedication of our staff and partners, and the support of the international community. The organization continually seeks to enhance its capabilities and strengthen its partnerships to confront future challenges and continue providing humanitarian aid to those in need in all areas of RDHA work.
